Salaam,
After a long flight, finally here in Toronto. What a lovely town. Always delights me. Slept most of the way and saw “Disturbia”. Now chilling in my hotel room listening to some good music and waiting to be picked up to go to some radio and press interviews. Hectic but sweet.
Now the thoughtful and interesting bit. I got to hear that some people (some rival organizers) tried to create this confusion, infact told some of the local organizers that Ali will not get a visa for the U.S and he’s not coming. A normal practice done by most Pakistani show organizers to damage each others prospects and repute. Well i’m here and hey! guess what, got the visa in three hours. The American gentleman at the visa office was really sweet and kind. Told me to sign an album copy for his friend and take the visa in a few hours. Back to the point, my question is: for how long shall we try to hold each other down for our own personal gains. For how long shall we feel happy for someone else’s misery? Greatness reflects in wishing your enemies the best in their good endeavors and praying for their “Salah” even if they tried to put you under immense difficulty. This was taught and practiced by our Prophet (P.B.U.H). Then why not us?
My basic reason to speak about this here is because of the fact that I believe most of you here are young readers who are still developing a personality, an ideology and a set of beliefs. My humble request to you all…. Please don’t grow up to be harmful to anyone in any way. Be peacemakers and make the best out of your life by giving as much as you can to people.
God bless those who’ve gone astray and put them on the right path, for they know nothing. Amen

Dear Ali,
Salaams! My name is Pinky, I am 19 years old and I live in Australia. I know u probably hear this a lot but I am your BIGGEST FAN! I love all of your songs and I never go to sleep without watching one of your music videos on cable. By the way, great job on the ‘Dekha’ video it’s awesome =) I think you are really talented (so does my mum!) and you are my favourite artist.
In response to your blog, it saddens me to hear about situations such as the one you encountered. It is difficult to believe that pakistanis can behave in such a manner. I think that we should appreciate one another’s success and be proud of the fact that our nation has produced such talent.
Also, I know you probably get asked this a lot too but do you think you will be coming to Australia anytime soon for a concert?
If not, will you be performing in Pakistan in December this year? I am only asking because I will be in Pak during this time and would love to see you in concert.
Finally, I would like to end this message by congratulating you on your success and I really hope that I get the chance to see you perform one day. In the meantime, keep up the great work and I will continue watching your videos on tv and via the internet =)

Salaam Ali,
Really happy to learn that you got to Canada safely, and alhamdullillah got your US visa with ease. I hope that the rest of your tour goes smoothly and you have the best time inshaallah!
So when I read your message today I had to reply immediately, because it upsets me too why Pakistanis have this problem- why this jealously and envy? It is awful. Unfortunately it has become a social norm in our culture. The worst part is that the people who are the nicest, honest and sincere are picked on because they know that this type of person will not harm them back. Anyway I wanted to say “Bravo” to you for making a stand about it.
What you have articulated is the true message of Islam. The Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) said that you are not a true believer until you ‘want for your brother what you want for yourself’.
You know I am proud to be Pakistani but ironically what is so upsetting is that the real Pakistani is supposed to be kind, altruistic and put others needs first. To just be simple- just like our Grandparents’ generation. The beauty of our culture is that when you meet another Pakistani you should feel that you are meeting a family member and not a stranger. You should want to be kind to them and welcome them in every way possible. We need to revive this part of our culture, and inshaallah remove the disease of our hearts (which include superficiality, envy, greed and lack of appreciation of others).
I really hope that every person who reads our messages makes an effort to change for the better, and improve our situation inshaallah. My philosophy is to be the best person I can be, and I believe that it is by making others happy. In Islam, even a smile is charity- and how wonderful is it when someone smiles at you. Anyway, you can see that this is all too much to cover in one message so I will sign off now!!
Take care of yourself Ali (eat and sleep well inshaallah). Love and Du’a for all Pakistanis out there.
Ambreen.

Greatness does reflect in wishing your enemies the best. I wouldn’t consider them enemies, maybe just competition. These people believe the world is about money, and they will do everything in their power to attain it. Anyways, I actually wanted to ask you why you aren’t performing in the New York/New Jersey area. I was really looking forward to it.
Best,
Anam

Asalaamalaikum Ali,
its good to hear that you had a good journey and lucky for you that you managed to get a kip (sleep) on the plane, i am never so lucky, just can’t relax enough even when i have a row of empty seats next to me.
sorry to hear about the false rumours, don’t let them bother you especially since you have such a heavy schedule ahead of you. unfortunately this sort of behaviour is not confined to the pakistani or asian community it happens everywhere, in every community and amongst all races. however, as we have knowledge of what the muslim deen prescribes we, rightly, expect more from our muslim brothers and sisters. they should have morals and values that people should applaud we shouldn’t be doing things that create negative stereotypes about our communities.
may Allah guide us all, may he bless our hearts with the ability to accomodate infinate good, tolerence and generosity
take care and have a fab time

I hope that you enjoyed Calgary! We certainly enjoyed your performance…it was to say the least AMAZING! Please come back soon.
Good Luck with the rest of your tour, inshallah it will go well.
P.S. Thanks for reminding us the teachings of Islam. We could use a little guidance, especially in today’s world.
August 27th, 2007 at 7:18 am
I couldn’t agree with you more, I’ve been hearing for such a long time that you didn’t have a visa, but I guess this explains it all. Haha, you know people will do anything for money - even if it means lieing. Personally, I’m against it. But, profit matters more than anything else to some people.
Anyways, I’m glad you made it Canada. Hope you have a awesome time performing there. I really wish you could’ve visited more cities - some closer to where I live (So, I would’ve been able to come). But, hey maybe next time! =) Anywho, keep us updated on your tour! Best of luck and have a safe trip! =)

As-Saalam-A-Laikum Ali,
Its way past my bed time but a few hours ago I jus came back from your concert at Wonderland in Toronto. My throat is killing me cuz once you came on stage I screamed and sang along with your songs like no one was watching. I just wanted to comment on your thoughts and how inspiring they are. I really respect you for the messages you put out there. This recent blog gave out some realy nice thoughts which i think we should all carry out it’ll influence us not just to be better humans but even better Muslims. But the real reason why I deciced to comment on your blog was to tell you that at the very end of your entire performance tonight the last thing you said was along the lines “Always listen to your parents”. Out of my entire day those few words were what stuck with me the most and I thought about it on the ride home. It really made me reflect deeply especialy since im still young, rebellious and trying to find my goal in life. I’ve had my rocky days where I collided with my parents infact today was one of them (I was really annoyed at them cuz they were talking so long to take me to your concert) and the whole time when i was sitting in the audience by myself even though i was having fun in the back of my head, my consious felt guilty for having such a bad attitude but at the very end when you renforced that simple message it made me feel a little lighter and want to make up for my ungrateful behaviour. I really liked that, your sincerity and humbleness and I just wanted to let you know that you made a huge difference and im sure your message touched more lives even after all that loud music and screaming. I hope you continue being an inspiration to younger people like me. Because it’s true Yes we all are up to date on the latest songs that comes out, and buy the latest cell phones yet forget those little life lessons that are important and resons to be thankful for. It’s great that your using your voice not jus to sing but to influence others to follow the right path. The truth is we’ll listen to you any day way more than we’ll ever listen to our own parents.
God Bless You
August 27th, 2007 at 11:52 am
Hey Ali,
THANKS SOOO MUCH for coming to Calgary!! Finally, a Pakistani concert in Calgary. I drove down from Edmonton(a city 3 hours away) just to attend the concert! It was really quite awesome!
Did you go to Toronto that same night cause wow, that’s hectic!
I was disappointed I didn’t get to meet you tho. Maybe next time. I did think that you should have called a few people on stage and been more interactive.
Hearing you live was worth the drive! Come to Edmonton soon!!!
P.S. You’re really hot!
August 27th, 2007 at 4:00 pm
Salaam,
I’m glad to know you got to Canada safely and your shows are doing great, Masha’Allah. Congratulations on receiving your visa in such a short amount of time, I’m happy it worked out for you.
From reading your blog, I have to say I couldn’t agree with you more on your comments about jealousy and putting others down for one’s own benefits. I personally think jealousy is part of human nature and I’m sure everyone experiences the feeling; however, to blatantly lie and intentionally cause someone harm is just going a bit too far and simply wrong. Feelings of jealousy may arise from insecurity and lack of confidence, but I believe as Muslims we should be able to fight it and overcome it.
Anyway, I think it’s great you bought this topic up for discussion, especially for the youngsters here. Let’s just hope they take your advice and better themselves, not just as Muslims but also as good human beings
Anyhow, Good luck with the rest of your tour and stay blessed ![]()

salam,
i totally agree with you. It is ridiculous enough to do this, but even more ridiculous that its happening where these people are pretty educated but act worse then the uneducated. I do pray for these people. Also, Mr. Ali sahab. I went to your show last night at WONDERLAND. Amazing job indeed. Everyone was dying to see you and i enjoyed every minute. I, actually was in the very first row standing right infront of the stage, dancing by the railing. I know there were hundreds of people there, but lets see if you can remember who i am. I was wearing a yellow top (probably like many), and it was quite funny how the girls were yelling and asking for you to shake their hand, and you said “if i shake your hand, how will i perform”, just a moment later, right beside those girls, i was standing and also asking for your hand, and u saw me and you came over and practically didnt just tap it, you pretty much got the whole hand. Wow that was a real lucky moment for me! I was even blowing you kisses, lol and near the end of the show i got ontop of the railing and blew you a couple more, haha i’m sure u must remember that, since i was the only one who did that! lol, a lil bizzare, but hey i was jus showin my love. OH and by the way, you also said, “I am a simple man…why do you all love me so much”, or something along those lines, but Ali, i think that you answered your own question. We love you, because of your simplicity! Your personality is way different than many of the other singers out there! This on the whole makes you even more lovable!
Do enjoy your trip here, i’m sure you will love it! I pray that only good things come your way, and that these uneducated cheap-mannered buisnessmen leave you alone!
I do hope you remember me as well, as i am one of your greatest fans and always will be, even if you are going through low times in your industry (which i know you never will, cuz my prayers are always with you).
Do keep in contact! Wish you best of luck! I wish I could fly down and see each and every concert of yours all over again! lol! Actually, it makes me want to think of a career in singing as well, as i can sing too, dance, draw, act, lol multi-talented just like you! I guess i just need to find a stepping stone to get me in this industry! I hope you do respond back someway!
lots of love!

Hay ALI, visited your blogs after so long, actually i was out of town for few days… and in the meanwhile you posted two blog entries
About your last blog, this is what i’ve been sharing in my previous comments that this country will not change itself WE NEED TO CHANGE IT. Countries and nations are not perfect always, it need alot of effort to make it perfect. Here, people , including me , feel satisfaction by pulling each other’s legs down. But i hope and pray that young guns of pakistan will work togather and bring a change in society. I am upto start a project about this. Awareness in youth!
I need a lil favour from you and other members, who are reading this… please pray for me… your prayers of just 30 sec can help me alot in my work. Its youth, who keep communites togather.
everyone say that, “Nojawan hamaray mustaqbil ka sarmaya ha”(youngster are asset of our future)..but i bileve tha “nojwaan hamaray haal ka sarmaya ha” (youngsters are asset of our present. We must use them by giving them oppertiuinites and they will bring change in our society. this is what the core of my organization.

Another thing I’m really happy that ure doing is encouraging us teenagers to be responsible and to care for one another…not that some of us don’t do that…but I notice that where I am now…ppl need to know that!!!!its no fun tryin to fit in again especially when no one is especially nice to u….thank you for boosting my confidence… cuz no matter how many times im being pushed away…ive got the confidence to try again:D:D…May God bless u ten fold for the humanity ure developing among young ppl…TC..and have fun where ever u are…Khuda Hafiz…

First of all I just wanted to say that I was in your concert in Dallas last night and I was totally mesmerized by it. You did such an amazing performance. I was just wanting to congratulate you about your performance because all I heard from everybody were positive comments about you. I really hope you enjoyed our Texan community too. We are very loving people aur hum to pyaar ko taras rahe hotey hain. You obviously noticed that when all those girls started hugging you lolzzz. Anywayz you have a very nice personality and not just me but the whole North Texas community wants to say that WE LOVE YA.

I do not know if you recall, but saw you in houston, did not get to meet backstage because you were running off to ihop with the others, then the next day in detroit i got my cousin to get the signature on the cd ontop of the car before going into the restaurant, Thanks for the signature though, btw my cousin told you I had worn brown in houston unknowingly, I was really in black and gold. Just stating you put on a good performance and thanks for the “I love you” signed CD, hope you enjoyed the chai and cookies, lol. Inshallah you will continue to grow as well, sabina (houston)
