Hi fellows,
Sorry for the late post but had been occupied in thoughts for a long time. I think it is time to share my experience of going through one of the most enlightening phases of my life with the hope that it’ll bring good into your life too. (The objective is not to preach, it is just to share how I feel with all the dear readers).
In Ramadan I started reading the translation and tafseer of “The Quran” again in depth with thoughtfulness and all subjectivity, and I must say, what a book! (although I still haven’t finished). I’ve often witnessed most people just being told to read through the Arabic but I believe that the purpose doesn’t serve in completion untill one reads in a language one can understand, since it’s purpose is to guide us as to how to be good to ourselves, to God, to our family, to the society and to the entire humanity and furthermore, nowhere has God or the Prophet (PBUH) ever stopped us from reading it on our own. The pursuit of truth and knowledge is the best addiction. It’s bound to give you so many answers yet raise so many further questions which again propel you to dig deeper to look for them and find them and so the process goes on. During this process, you keep shedding off your fears, hang ups, complexes and other negative elements as you get to know more about your conscience and existence and the true essence of life. Feelings of hatred, jealousy, anxiety, anger and frustration are subdued and feelings of love, humbleness and tolerance enhance to the beauty of it.
Allah says about this book:
There hath come to you from Allah a (new) light and a perspicuous Book. Wherewith Allah guides all who seek His good pleasure to ways of peace and safety, and leads them out of darkness, by His Will, unto the light, guides them to a Path that is Straight.
(Al-Ma’idah 5:15-16)
O mankind! there hath come to you a direction from your Lord and a healing for the (diseases) in your hearts, and for those who believe, a Guidance and a Mercy. Say: “In the Bounty of Allah. And in His Mercy, in that let them rejoice”: that is better than the (wealth) they hoard. (Yunus 10:57-58)
The need in me occurred due to the two questions in my mind ;
a) “Why am I a Muslim” and the answer was “because I was born in a Muslim family.” But shouldn’t the answer rather be “because I read the book of God and its logic compels me to love it and embrace it with my own choice?”
b) Why are Muslims all over the world suffering the most? Can I be of any help?
I believe each one of us can. But how, for this we need to dig deeper into our souls, read and acquire knowledge of this Book and many others and find some answers. We can’t defend our faith or religion untill we ourselves are not aware of its true essence which seems to have been lost with time and also embrace it into our lives. We all make mistakes, so have I, and might in the future as well but atleast the will and determination to improve is there and hopefully shall never come to rest. That’s what I believe in and thought would share it with all of you and it may help me in becoming a better person and someone else too
P.S. If someone has any confusion or queries regarding anything, you can always put forward, we can always look for the answers together
Peace

asalaamalaikum ali,
god, i am so glad you have come back on line, it has been so long i was getting really worried about you!…even emailed one of the moderaters to enquire.
Anyway, Mashallah it is great to know that you have been occuppied in such a spiritually rewarding activity, may Allah guide us all towards the path of enlightment and understanding of our wonderful deen.
Nobody is perfect and those who tell you otherwise are lying. We all, well most of us (i think), endeavor to do good, but even the best of us are still not faultless. We should constantly reflect and learn wether it be from our mistakes or from the results of our good actions.
The quran and sunnah teaches us an entire way of life, a life that is peaceful and harmonious and if we all followed the rules and regulations provied by it then maybe we would not be faced by the calamities that we have now. Having said that, following the ways of the quran and sunnah does not mean enforcement of hard fast rules or oppression of one thing or the other, as some believers might interpret it, but to find a balance as the prophet mohammed (PBUH) encouraged us to take take the middle path and avoid extreme views in all that we do.
well as i said it is great that you are back, missed you. i am sure you have been told many times before but your charisma is addictive!
take care,
wannabe

Salam Ali Sahab,
Yes its been ages, since we heard from you, and it seemed quite obvious that you were quite busy. Well I hope your Ramadan went well, as well as Eid.
As for the Quran-E-Karim, I totally agree with what you have stated. No one can really understand the true meaning and word of Islam until they read the Quran with meaning.
How can we fight the people who are quarreling against us if we ourselves don’t have the proper knowledge to fight back. The only way for us to fight back, is to spread the word of the TRUE Islam, not the Extremist based Islam.
I, too, wanted to complete the translation of the Quran. Inshallah soon that will also be done. Funny how we have time to read other books and novels, whereas there is this one supreme book with all the answers sitting write there, that alot of people jus read for the sake of reading, but not understanding.
We all have to get together and pray that from all the troubles this religion is going through, there is an answer, there is a cure for all the fighting, and that is the message of the Quran, the message of our Holy Book!
I am proud, that aside from your work, you are spreading the good word, and you are on this track of only supreme enlightment. That is for sure! Keep it up Ali Sahab, Inshallah, this message will reach the corners of this world, not only through you, but when we ALL get together and spread the word of Islam, and Quran!
Wasalam,
Sadaf

ASALAM-U-ALAIKUM
Kaisa ho Ali!
Itss really good that you have connected with GOD. but as much i have heard and seen you were a nice person, who seeks beyond surfaces and faces. But i pray and wish for all of us to follow same path as you and one that Allah and his Prophet(PBUH) has followed and suggested for us muslim.
Like yourself Ali I have so many question and you are right more you dig for answers more question it arises. But one would go mad if searches for all the answer and if find all the answers there will be no purpose of menkind. Yes one should seek knowledge but knowing more then one really should can be very disturbing or forces you to question even more. Sorry if I am going off track a bit.
But it was great to hear from and you are waiting and wasting your time waiting for some good offer to come along. But you are seeking what most of don’t even realise or realise when its too late, but as you said and many great people have said its never too late.
If people who are in public do something like this their followers and specially youngsters will benefit from it.
So goodluck to you for everything that comes your way.

Hey Ali, Its really cool to see how much you care about our religion. I think thats very cool esp. during this time where people have given terrorism a religion and that religion is Islam. Most poeple look up to celebrities and if you feel this way you might just a chain reaction.

Hello Ali,
I am so happy to see that you have written on your blog.It has been a long time since you last wrote to us.
Ali I read ur blog 2-3 times before I could write anything, I was trying to grasp what you have written.I can understand that you are not being preachy, just sharing your thoughts that you are feeling in your journey for truth and supreme knowledge.I believe we all are on a journey and we have to find our own individual path towards our final destination: that is GOD. Being one with HIM.Unki Masty aur nashe mein kho jana.We should take all the help we can get even if its from different sources. But its not an easy journey. There are many highs and lows. When I am low I wonder why do people suffer when its not thier fault? Why did GOD make this universe?I don’t understand the way the supreme power works. But I know that its perfect! I don’t understand it but It understands me.HE understands all of us.He takes care of us.GOD is Great!
Ali, in the song ‘janay na koi’ I can’t understand some parts of the song. It will be very kind of you if you explain the whole song especially the first papagraph.Thank you!! May GOD bless everyone!! May there be light in everyone’s life!!!
Take Care!! Bye for know..

Assalam o alikum Ali Dear,
Dear I agree with you.Maula Ali (a.s) once sad that if I have any sort of problem, I find the solution of that problem from Holy Quran. We should recite the Holy Quran & try to understand it’s glorious teachings. If we practise acting on the teachings of Holy Quran, we will not only protect our selves from going astray but will also regain our past glory & grandeur………..
November 9th, 2007 at 10:20 pm
As salaam A Laykum,
You know what you have done?
Well when I started to read that you have been occupied in learning Islam from its original source you gave me a pleasant shock, I just did not think that celebrities like you not only thought about Islam but also acted upon your thoughts, and you have now become an inspiring role model for the youth to follow.
Imagine, if you shocked this individual in a very good way and made me proud of a celebrity, imagine how proud Allah must be with you, and not only because you went to learn about what’s really in the book, but you then spread the word.
And I have a feeling that this kind of work by people like you has a greater impact on our generation, than how Islam is traditionally taught to us.
Now I wish that we all take a look at ourselves, attempt to change our wrongs to rights. Because by doing so we change the image of us muslims as a whole in the world.
So everyone think… change… reap….

Salam Ali.
It’s great to read another blog post from after a long period of time. I’m really pleased to see how you’ve tried to really get in depth with the meaning of the Qu’ran and realised, like all muslims, what an amazing and informative book it is. I’m proud because you have taken the time to do such a good deed even though you must be busy, due to your profession. I hope you finish your aim of completing and understanding the rest of the Qu’ran and please do take care.
May success always be with you, (I’m sure it is at the moment…! LOL)
Bye

Dear Ali,
Many many salams be upon you..
We pray that Allah Taala guides you and blesses you always and therefore, it is absolutely fantastic yet not surprising to see your latest blog as we remember you in our daily five prayers..
You see your songs and music sometimes show great depth and sincerity and this will only be heightened and increased inshaallah by knowledge of Allah Taala, reflection of His Greatness, His Mercy and also reflection on His beauty visible in His creation..
You see in Pakistan, people are religious sometimes but lack awareness of their souls and spirituality. It is very important to seek the answers to the big essential questions that you have already pondered over…because it is only then that we have true inner peace and connection with our Wonderful Creator..
You see we are just pathetic creatures that are made from dust and will one day be in the earth.. so why the arrogance, the lack of humbleness? It is Allah Taala who is eternal..
My advice to you.. continue to seek the truth.. that we are only here to spread the beautiful deen of Islam and anything good that we do whether it be marriage, or eating halal food.. everything has a reward.. there is no other deen so simple and so in tune with the nature of man.. A muslim is someone who submits to God.. nothing or no one else..
Every action is judged on intention.. so my next piece of advice ,Ali, is to keep your intentions for Allah Taala’s sake.. Try as hard as it is for all of us, to try to love for His sake and hate for His sake..
Ali, you are already making wonderful progress. it can only get better from here.. If your intention is to gain knowledge of your creator, it will ease and facilitate it for you inshaallah…We are here for you to continue to pray for you and support any way that we can…you just have to say.. we all are in the same boat.. we all are trying to stay afloat..also please remember that as we try to get closer to Allah Taala.. there is also Shaytan who tries to stop us.. so beware of people or thoughts that stop you from the right path..
we pray for the people of Pakistan at this difficult time.. that Allah Taala guides us all and keeps us on the Straight Path always and pours all His Mercy on the whole ummah.. ameen

Asalamualaikum Ali……
i m truly glad u came back wid a blog after a hiatus (well thts wat it was for me at least) and that too wid all the knowlegde of sumthin which all of us have definitely drifted apart from.
Truly speakin, what we define a muslim as is definitely the one being born in that household. we are all muslims by chance and not by choice. no one ever cares to think how lucky we are to achieve this status of being a muslim, followin a peace loving religion such as islam. we dont even think of thankin our Almighty for the blessings that He has showered upon us.
Why is islam being termed as terrorism?
why are muslims being termed as terrorists?
why are islamic institutions being termed as a hub for terrorism?
The anwers are simple and lie wid us. we have never followed what Allah and the Prophet (PBUH) has ordered us to follow, we havent stopped islam from being condemned, we havent realised the value of the precious religion we are from and neither did we want to do any of these because we are so engrossed in the other worldly activities.
In my opinion, Ali, u are doing a great job wid spreading a word about religion in ur blog, because the generation which we come from, we get more inspired by people like u from the entertainment sector than our parents or any other muslim scholars, we listen to u wid great delight, not our parents. So thank u so much for takin a step ahead and writing down a blog about what we should all be followin always -ISLAM…
P.S: LASTLY I HAVE A QUERY FOR YOU ALI, IS NOT SINGING AND ANY KIND OF MUSIC PROHIBITED IN ISLAM, THERE IS A HADEES SAYING THAT THE PROPHET WAS SENT TO THIS WORLD TO VANISH MUSIC (MOUSIQI), AND YOU ARE A SINGER IN THE ENTERTAINMENT BUSINESS RIGHT. SO CAN YOU PLEASE GIVE ME AN ANSWER TO THIS QUESTION WHICH MANY OF MY FRIENDS ASK ME WHEN I PRAISE YOU IN FRONT OF THEM…
JazaakAllah……take care….
ALLAH HAFIZ…..
November 11th, 2007 at 1:54 am
to uqba (who asked the question re singing in islam)
hi uqba, i know uyou were asking your question of ali but i just wanted to post a comment .
music is discouraged in islam and many hadiths point to the fact that in many of it’s forms it is haraam. However unfortunately in todays day and age we have reached a point where our youth are on the road to totaly losing sight of any of the requirements of our deen because of the strong forces and temptations of shaytaan. i know we shouldn’t compromise our deen to satisfy worldly urges but unfortunately things have gone very wrong for us muslims (because of our lack of understanding and weakness in our imaan), from the personal problems i have faced recently i now feel that so what our youth want to engage in music, it is better that responsible muslim people can guide them through it rather then they turn to non- muslim, devil worshipping bands.
November 11th, 2007 at 2:49 am
sorry wasn’t able to finnish my comment earlier.
anyway…as i was saying uqba …music has such an influence on people..it just draws them in and takes them over …(probs. why it isn’t encouraged in islam)…. like a drug. i would rather the youth have involvement in music from people who have a relatively strong faith and sound morals. we keep telling them this and that is haraam so they end up fighting against us because outside influences are just too strong for them at present (all because of the weak imaan of the muslim ummah and especially mine…..may allah give me and all muslims strength, patience and tolerance…..ameen). it is hard but we have to bring in some leniancy for our deens sake because the up and comming generation will be totally condemned if we don’t. we need to have involvemnet in the things that they are drawn to, to a resonable extent, whilst promoting good morals and ethics in these areas so our youth can understand where they are themselves comming from, at least then they can manipulate this particular form of art towards something that will sit…if not comfortably … but more tolerably with our deen. if we turn a blind eye it is not going to go away. if we forbid our children they will still want to experiment and will do so behind our backs robbing us of the opportunity to direct them untill it is too late. surely it is better for them to be drawn into music provided by the likes of ali and others rather than the likes of groups such as maryln manson etc and all that goes with their influence…resulting in young, easily influenced individuals who are born muslim leaving islam altogether. i am seeing it happen too often here in the west.

Salaam Ali…
gud to hear from u agen:D…
i fuly agree wit u on wat uve said…
the other day there was a blackout in my house and luckily i’ve got a family friend wrkin at a Islamic Librarry right down the street from me…i toook a chance and went there…i picked up a couple books on the english translation of the Ouran..and i was there reeading FOR HOURSSS…believe it our not….i was sitting there reading on SOO many things i never knew b4..that i never noticed that close to 4 hours had gone by:O…
After readin SOO much (im a nerd so i can cover reading books REALL fast)…i started being more cautious…and being a teenager of this generation..i know v arent the type to sit and think…but ever since then..i feel as if i’ve changed into a better person…i cant believe that jus reading The Quran would change me like this…trust me..im pretty stubborn on how i am…and i expected something really bad to happen for ME to change…but now i watch out for the littlest mistake and when i hear someone saying or doing sumthin wrong..i immediately react to it……
I get scared at the fact that even if its some else’s mistake..I have to apologize…and in some way..my change hasn’t surprised me..but i think my parents are happy for who i am going to become..and hopefully one day…i can finish what i’ve started…and show Allah what a good Muslim i am…to show Him that i’m not a Muslim cuz i was born into a Muslim Family..but i’m a Muslim because Allah has given me a very fortunate goal to becum a good human being and get somewhere…in life AND after….
What surprises me the most is that u, as a singer, are not lost in doing messed up stuff but ure promoting to fans that what it takes to be a gud Muslim…i really look up to u as my idol and i believe that ANYONE can do this ..if they really believe that they can be a gud Muslim…
I’m proud to say that ure some who changed me as a person..and i hope u keep doing so..
May Allah keep u safe and happy and never let U or ur loved ones get hurt in any way, shape or form….may ur career alwayz be prosperous..and may u live to be the happiest person on Earth..Ameen Sum Ameen…
take care..and dont ever forget me or the rest of ur fans..
Be Happy and Stay Happy:D:D..
God Bless You:D:D
Love Alwayzzz

asak wannabe…
well whatever thots u have shared wid all of us have been wonderful to read. i truly agree wid all of ur opinions about music and islam. it is commendable that u think this way. well it is indeed an inevitable fact that we have become so engrossed in the worldly pleasures that now we cant even think about giving them all up. but sumwhere there is always a guilt in the heart for doin so.
but nonetheless i agree to ur opinions and hope that all my muslim brothers and sisters think the same way.
my question was for Ali actually, i wanted his opinion on what he thinks about music in islam. i respect him and m a great fan of his, so have asked this question to him. hope even he’ll be answering me. nevertheless thank u wannabe for ur opinions. May ALLAH bless u.
JazakALLAH……

November 12th, 2007 at 4:41 am
to uqba.
sadley, the guilt in our hearts only comes to us when we have reached an age where we can reflect on our choices with deeper understanding…and often that seems to be at the age of around the big ‘3′ 0′ and even then guidence and direction can only come from Allah. but what is happening to muslims in the time before then? ….i can tell you that now not only are they seperating themselves from islam but also any association with their cultural roots.
we are in a sorry state of affairs at the moment!
take care
wannabe
p.s uqba, i know the question was to ali and i had no intention of answering it on his behalf …apologies if seemed that way…i was just posting my perspective on it !
November 12th, 2007 at 5:00 pm
Salaam Ali,
Hope your Eid went good. It’s good to see you write back. I totally agree with what you have said. I have been reading the Qur’an in English and understanding the true meaning. It is really great to know you have shared your knowledge about Islam to us. May God bless you. Ameen.
I would like to know why have people gone against Islam? There has been alot of discrimination about it. If you see, on facebook there are actually groups that have gone beyond there limits about Islam. It’s absolutely heart breaking to know how people can do all this.
I am honestly proud to be born in a Muslim family. My friend has converted into a Muslim which is great! I would really appreciate it if you answered my question. I’m a young girl following the concepts of Islam and trying to understand the reason why we have come on Earth.
At the end, all of us have to face the Day of Judgement which isn’t far. As you can see, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said that some of the signs of the Day of Judgement will be that music will become a must on Earth and drinking will increase. As you can see all of this is happening now.
I really admire the fact that you have taken the time to talk about Islam to all of us. I hope and pray this message will reach out to everyone in the world.
Take care and stay happy.
Thank you once again!
Peace..xx

Salam and belated Eid Mubarak to you
During the begining and end of Ramadan I like to watch ‘The Message. This is my first step of looking at myself and to see how I can become a better person as a humanbeing and as muslim.
I have to say that I tend to read the translation of the Quran when reading as it has more of an impact. My Auntie has recommended that I should buy the tafseer in English. The copy we have at home is in Bengali.
I brought this CD called the ‘99 names of Allah’ which was aired on Chicago Radio. I thought it will be just the meaning of each of his wonderful names, but it was a lot more than that. The presenter talks about the meaning and also how it can be applied to our everyday life.
I never thought that it would have such an impact on me but it has. I recommend it to anyone.
For example AR-RAHMAN — The Merciful
Allah (S.W.T) is the most merciful & most forgiving, and we are reminded of this every time we recite ‘Bismillahir Rahmanir Raheem before every thing we do.
To gain Allah’s mercy we too need to be merciful by developing tollerance, understanding combined with compassion and a willingness to forgive quickly and easily even if they donot deserve such mercy.
This mercy should influnce how we relate to spouses by being ready to forgive shortcomings of our spouse and treat them with more kindenss than they deserve.
With children we must learn not to dwell on their mistakes, but be affectionate & listen to what they have to say and feel. Mercy on to them will translate for them to be mercy to others in life including us when we grow old and weak. Children will listen to us as much as we listen to them.
This applies to our muslim brothers and sisters by learning to overlook their faults and not be quick to judge them harshly when they do something wrong as we all make mistakes in life.
Muslim brothers and sisters should feel safe and comfertable in our company. This mercy should also extend to those who have not yet found Islam, they too should feel safe and comfertable in our company, and hopefully they will be drawn to Allah’s mercy by experiencing our mercy.
We should all remeber that the mercy we show to others the more of Allah’s mercy we will receive.
This was just one of his 99 names I thought I would share with you.
My ethos in life is treat others as you would expect them to treat you.
Take Care and wish you all the best.
Shabnam
P.S I await in anticipation for your new single and video.

It’s nice to hear from you after along time, hope you keeping well?
I agree with you Quran is just not about reading but is about understanding
And applying its learning in our daily lifes. The question is why Muslim are
Suffering all over the world today. The reason is very simple and that is that
We have fallen behind in keeping up with our religion.
The Quran teaches us to forget and forgive, to love, to share, to respect,
To care,to sacrifice your needs for other fellow muslin. But in todays
World people are only worried about themselves everyone of us have become
So selfish. That we have forgotten that this world is only a temporary
Place to be. My request to all Muslim is to start changing by putting other
People needs before theirs. Because Allah Taala promise to help those who
Help others. The almighty says on the Day of Judgment I will forgive everyone
Expect those that were not kind to my people/ my creation.
Then what are we waiting for lets start spreading our kindness and love. So
Almighty Allah keeps his rahmat on us and our beloved country Pakistan.Ameen
Keep well Ali, and may allah provide guidness to all of us.
