Mango or Tango ?
Posted by Ali on July 18th, 2008 filed in GeneralAren’t mangoes the best thing that ever happened to mankind …….after womankind ? or maybe if we were just left with mangoes we’ll be fewer and lesser of sinners . But then how would we know what sweetness really is . For me sweetness is female . If world only had men i think it would be such a bitter place and the mangoes will only taste like plums. Its the female kind that has enriched the universe with such everlasting sweetness. From our mothers to wives to sisters to grandmother … they nurture our lives with sheer empathy , compassion , forgiveness and solitude. They help us keep our souls intact . But mind you if you end up with a wrong woman it could be double trouble . But i feel those who have a good heart end up with only good in life . Blackness surrounds those who have negativity stored in their hearts and minds . No matter how wrong your life may be , if you continue to stay fair to it , it’ll ultimately be fair to you . it’s a fair game my friend. It’s how you play it . Sounds a bit bookish but what to do …… it’s the truth . But as i was saying … aren’t mangoes the best thing that ever happned to mankind ? i mean how can they taste so good . How ?

yes..mangoes do taste really good…since canada doesn’t have as good mangoes as pakistan..my uncle..exported some mangoes from pak..to here (Toronto)..

the best things in life are only truly the best if the phenomenon behind the feeling that they give us is unexplainable!!!
but still my poor mum has to get them to me here and still listen to my complaints abt the lack of euphoria after having them in a foreign country. Maybe we’re too used to the summer trips to the village and the paint ball sessions near the tubewell followed by mangoe eating contests. Sadly now, even though there’s still paint ball, the mangoe element, which was always the highlight of the event, is missing 
i mean how many times have we come across things that were probably better but less of a challenge to understand and thus we lost interest.
Girls are such mysterious creatures, wait not mysterious more like fickle minded, but ofcourse all the guys out there can go on thinking of us as msyterious, no complaints
And yes paki mangoes rock! but they only taste that good when they’re there, once they come here they don’t taste as nice

girls have evolved from barbie to fifa just as guys did from mario to fifa. I beat my bro’s, who are much older than me, every other day during our fifa session. and ofcourse it has to end with another session of need for speed pro-street on Wii! my gosh that’s amazing! we can even drift, plus the excitment and challenges of doing that on Wii really makes me go WEEEEEE! LOL
at times when i’m playing i wonder if anyone would imagine that my bro’s r traders for citi or that i’m the same girls they see in uni
we’re more like ppl in their 13-19 ages bracket than our 20-28 age bracket! lol
in a jist God bless the creators of PS3 and Wii oh and ofcourse board games like twister, jenga, UNO and Taboo!

I miss the days in Lahore when we used to eat crates and crates of mangoes. That’s is definately one thing i miss the most about Pakistan, the yummy mangoes. Unfortunately, you can’t find mangoes that good in Canada.

hi ali just watched the program coke studio on play tv it was mind-blowing and fantastic and these words mean nothing to what i am feeling right now ,wow ali and i mean it wowooooooooooooooooooooo you were ………..i think u get the point by now but you sang every song with sheer concentration it was dynamic and i really like the way zeeshan the dj twicked the tracks channo and rangeen and chal dil meray it was wounderful and i mean that ali these compliments r from my heart ! please reply if u can

This is my first comment… however i am a long time reader of your blogs.. Mangoes are absoultely one of my favorite fruits.. I live in America and it is hard to get mangoes year round…we usually have them a couple of months in the year…but when we do get mangoes over here… my mom hides them from my dad and me because we both eat them the most in our family!!! back to normal life issues, my dad was mashaallah born in the great city of lahore and so i looooove mangoes.. i am already grieving for the end of season..
as for the women comments, you punjabi guys are all the same Ali.. your relationships with women are love and hate.. that is the way my dad is with my mum.. but if she is the right lady..then there is mashaaallah a lot of love and it overcomes the hate mashaallah… certain men in my family are lovely mashaallah and they are married to witchy women.. they separate thier husbands from their sisters and all their familes.. they plot and plan and scheme and above all do not share.. what kind of women are these? not the one we are supposed to be.. dutiful and lovely to their hardworking husbands.. may Allah Taala protect all the lovely guys in this world from horrible women.. and as for the ones that are already stuck with them i feel for you and look forward to the hoors in Jannah inshaallah..they will be better companions.. also i would like to add that the likewise is true too.. if there are women out there with horrible husbands, may Allah Taala protect you all from their evil..ameen..

The number of books that men have written about or on women is exponentially larger than the number of books women have ever written about men (I can hardly think of any). Why the obsession with the “phenomenon” that is woman, why the characterization of woman as a phenomenon? It is a very interesting area.
Woman will be the sweetness, the delicacy, the sparkle, the flower and the list goes on. Women are deemed to be able to make unlimited sacrifices, rise above everything, love beyond human capacity, forgive, show a level of compassion that has no equal.
In all this rhetoric, everyone forgets one thing. A woman is a human being. Just like a man is. She shares the same weaknesses, makes the same mistakes, learns the same way. In elevating the idea of the woman to the skies and beyond, and imposing on her traits and capacities that are beyond human, we forget the fact of her humanity. Burdened with expectations near impossible to reach, she struggles everyday, with what she wants and what she ought to want. Who she is and who she ought to be, what she needs and what she ought to need. (And then they say she is a fickle creature)
The idea of woman as the cause of sin is also quite interesting. It is but the easiest thing in the world to blame all ones sins on the woman, and man has been known to do that since time immemorial, starting from the very story of the genesis. It wasn’t Adam’s fault, it was Eve who coaxed him to eat the forbidden fruit. It is the woman who has to carry the burden of being righteous and ensuring that the men around her be so too. She does not have the luxury of making mistakes, or she is tarnished for life. It is much harder to blame one’s sin on him/herself and be able to say I-made-a-mistake as opposed to if-it-weren’t-for-her-this-wouldn’t-have-happened.
Maybe it isn’t the woman that keeps mangoes from being plums, maybe mangoes taste this good because they are meant to. Maybe we all sin because we are made this way. Maybe the man can bring sweetness to the world too for a change.

It’s a pleasure to have a person like you on board . Your point of view is well thought of , but may be,a bit too thought of, which seems to be leading to generalization.
First of all , i beg to disagree that all/most men place or have placed women through history on that high pedestal . Some freaks pretty much disregard and detest their very existence leading us to the era when they were buried alive on birth . Even today you have a few that have the nerve to acid their faces . But on the other side there have been romantacists like Leanardo da Vinci who placed women on a whole different level , Iqbal who says “ vujood-e-zun say hai kainaat mein rung “ and many more .
I would say that majority still takes them as normal human beings not placed too high and not too low so I don’t understand your complain .
Secondly , those who kind of ideologically blame women for all evil ,starting from eve are again in minority . So don’t stress . Eat mangoes .

well i think, all women and girls just want to be appreciated somtimes like when they cook for there families from dawn to dusk they aleast deserve a word of praise it makes them happy even to listen from their families that dinner was great ur the best even if they dont mean it (which some people dont) all wifes just want their husbands and mother-in-laws to be happy with them instead they take out little mistakes like this is to dry, that is to oliy and then there,s this hole issue on burning women in kithens when u think about it , it seems alittle sick that where they cook for their families there they get burned to death and why because they didnt bring lots of money with them im not just saying that because nowadays their are flims and dramas about this kind of behavior no im saying this because somthing like this happened to my cousin she was like my sis but anyways this is not the point im trying to say is all girls and womens just like to have respect,love and appreciation they dont want to be god they just want the support they seek when they try somthing new (even if its an hair cut)anyways kahan ki bhat kahan chali gayi

Ali! again this is ur friend Priya. I already told u Ali that I hav got a story to tell u, I was about an Encore drama in a Korean TV channel , which was too close to heart. As u r my close friend, I want to share with u. Pls. do read this story and reply me.
It was the story of a woman who severely attacked with stomach cancer. She had two daughters and both of them love their mom so much. When she knows abt. That she is having cancer, she looses all her hopes in this world. But she says that she wants to live. U know, Ali That’s really touching. Hope u understand. Coz u r also like me(that’s so sensitive). Her husband who is a flirty personality, doesn’t know that she is having cancer and after his deception with that lady he comes to know that her wife is in great pain.
Every day she used to have painkillers. From her acting, I come to know that there is nothing in the world which is more painful than cancer.
But her husband becomes good after this incident and he is in search of curing her. In spite of his great efforts, he couldn’t help her. She doesn’t allow her daughters to see in her last days. Her last days are so tough, hectic, very troubling.
There are some rare cases in which the cancer patients can get their life back. But I thought the story writer will make it positive.
But unfortunately, the thing which is disappointing is she dies. The story ends in such a way that it made me to cry for sometime. It’s really a hectic story to hear with. It would be more troubling when u watch it on the TV by your own.
Even though it’s a drama, I think of those cancer patients in our world. Lets pray for them.

This is only my 2nd visit to the blog. And I’m really amused by this post “Mango or Tango”
Tango always reminds me of “Scent of a Woman”. I can bet it’s in your list of favorite movies

Dear Ali,
Happy shab e mairaj to you.you know Ali that today was a very stressful day for me and my mom as my nani is again hospitalised as she was having bleeding and we had to rush her to the hospital,though now she’s a little better but she has become very weak and fragile due to continous bleeding and extreme pain.Ali, please pray for her,as it kills us to see her in this kinda pain,even moreso because she still hasn’t lost hope she still wants to get better like a true muslim.She can’t talk because of the ventilator but nods her head if we ask her that when you will get better than we’ill take you for umra,Allah has given her a strong will power.I’m sorry i know the comment has become a bit too long,but i just wanted to share it with you.May Allah always bless you and your dear ones(Ameen)

yesterday i was watching a flim it was so touching taht i started crying (and i dont cry on everthing) it was about a husband and wife that were in love with eachother very much. but the husband after few years of there marriage dies.
the wife keeps calling her husbands phone in the hope that he will pickup the moblie but only the voice mail comes on and her husbands voice saying that i am away from my moblie right now leave a message and i will call later
on the wifes first birthday after her husbands death she get a letter,a birthday cake and atape recorder from her husband
when she plays the tape recorder she hears her husbands voice saying that he had known he was about to die so he wrote some letters when his wife wasnt home and planned them so she would get the letters after his death one month by month so then he tells her in his letters to dont cry over me anymore and go out and have fun
then as she finds more letters she moves ahead with the help of her death husbands letter and the most romantic part was in ever letter in the end he writes p.s: I LOVE U
i cried so much it was a very romantic flim if u have the time watch it ali its very nice and tell me did u like the story or not
